I have been teaching biomedical fluid mechanics at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for the past 18 years and have been a little disappointed that I couldn't find a truly interdisciplinary book that combined engineering fluid mechanics with the physiological aspects of the topic. I searched for a book that contained information about topics like prosthetic heart valves, prosthetic arteries, and pulsatile flow, and was also readable by undergraduate engineering students. Biofluid Mechanics in Cardiovascular Systems attempts to do those things and contains two chapters that are explicitly devoted to cardiovascular and pulmonary physiology, as well as one chapter devoted to hematology (the study of blood).
