The Photographic Eye: Learning to See with a Camera


I have been interested in photography for quite a while. I've taken many photos, but have never found the elements that i need to understand to compose good images. This book takes you from a know-nothing beginning, through Lines, Shapes, Negative/Positive Space, the grid, etc. It lays an excellent groundwork with lots of examples to get you started with the right way of taking pictures. The assignments are a good way to put the knowledge learned in the book to practical use. No expensive cameras needed, even a cheap 35mm SLR you can find at a thrift store (i found mine with 2 lenses for 19.99) is perfect for this book.
