*You can learn every topic listed in this book using this book all by itself. It has the clearest introduction to these topics that I have seen. I read this book from start to finish, and it was a revelation every step of the way.



*it’s such a small book yet has the best discussion on delta function and spectral presentation i’ve seen.

it’s strange that one reviewer mentions it’s not for mathematician but it’s a good engineering book for applications. My impression is just the opposite even it does not contain a lot of rigorous proofs.

I think for an average engineer who just wants to applications, this book is a poor choice, cause real-life data are almost always discrete and finite yet this book always use continuous functions as examples. but that is not what it is for. There are other engineering books better for these purposes.

This book is for anyone (physicist, applied mathematician or engineer) who has a passing knowledge of eigenfunction & linear operators, and who wants to know more in-depth underlying math.
