Entries include those that could barely have been thought of in the mid-1970s (Computer science, Sexual harassment, Visual culture) along with those on the same topics but entirely rewritten from the original (City, Nationalism, Time).

The result is an encyclopedia that, while still reflecting ideas that have shaped the Western world, goes beyond the European tradition to explore the thought of Asia, Africa and the Americas. In all, well worth the 30-year wait.
