It's a good book for getting you used to the different ways to improve your car's performance. I started reading it as a complete novice and now know all the important parts of my engine that relate to horse power. It's as in-depth as it could be I'd say, as a lot of the hardware changes from car to car so there would be no point in focusing on certain models. They try to give some examples and let you know how it would change for other models.
If nothing else, you'll know what performance freaks are talking about when they mention induction, manifolds, cat-backs, turbos, supers and NOS.
