Power Transformers Quality Assurance
About the Book: With the view to attain higher reliability in power system operation, the quality assurance in the field of distribution and power transformers has claimed growing attention. Besides new developments in the material technology and manufacturing processes of transformers, regular diagnostic testing and maintenance of any engineering product may be ascertained by ensuring: right selection of materials and components and their quality checks.application of correct manufacturing processes any systems engineering.the user`s awareness towards preventive maintenance. The successful performance of the product can only be assured once these three independent functioning authorities join hands together for the common cause i.e., `QUALITY ASSURANCE`. Without this tie up we cannot expect uniform quality with satisfactory performance and longer life span of the products. With a view to create, distribute and speed the message of quality with an objective of making `Made in India` level a symbol of quality in The world market, responsibility of each functionaries need to be identified. Keeping the above in mind the contents of the book is divided in five sections. About the Author: Indrajit Dasgupta graduated from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, in the year 1971 in Electrical Engineering; acquired working knowledge in design and manufacturing technique of transformer from various small and medium size industries located in and around India and abroad. His initial part of the professional career was engaged in the Instrument Transformer Industries, making Current and Potential transformers up to 220 kV. Later part was dedicated in the field of distribution and medium size power transformers. Presently, he is the Director (Projects), P.M. Electronics Limited, an ISO:9001 certified company, at Greater Noida, (U.P.). Contents: Section I-Elementary Transformer EngineeringSection II-Selection of Raw Material and their Quality CheckSection III-Process ControlSection IV-Preventive Maintenance of TransformersSection V-Various Aspects of Quality Assurance. Review: Review which appeared in ITMA Journal, Jan-Feb. 2009 Indian Industries, at present, are facing new realities, challenges and uncertainties. these challenges are to be met for survival. We need to pick up some lessons from the fast-developing countries of the world to keep pace with them. This book Power Transformers: Quality Assurance by Indirajit Dasgupta should provide an insight to our professionals engaged in the power transforming industries as well as to all those who wish to step into this profession. Written by an Electrical Engineer with proficiency in design and manufacturing techniques of transformer meant for small and medium-size industries, both within and outside India, this book starts with basic information like working principles of transformers and elementary engineering. The book is in five sections. Section I concerns elementary transformer engineering, Section II deals with selection of raw materials and their quality check, chapters in Part III are about process control, Section IV is about the preventive mainteance transformers, and Section V consisting of five chapters provide an in-depth study of the various aspects of quality assurance. In this way, the book should serve as an ideal textbook for course in electrical engineering and a reference book for professionals in transformer industries.
