this is a basic method to softmod your wii. If you have had issues with any guide in the past (including any of mine) you WILL NOT with this one!!!!

READ THE ENITRE GUIDE BEFORE STARTING!!!! THERE ARE IMPORTANT PIECES OF INFORMATION ALL THROUGHOUT & WILL SAVE YOU FROM HEADACHES IF YOU READ FIRST!!!!


I do not take responsibility for anything that happens to your Wii...you are hacking it at your own risk. Don't blame me if you don't follow the guide & it bricks...I'll tell you how to fix it, but I'm not gonna be legally responsible for anything you do to your own property.

Before we get started, I'd like to say something....

IF YOU HAVE A LU64+ OR NEWER WII DO NOT CONTINUE OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR SYSTEM!!!!
How to know if your Wii is LU64+ or newer:

If your serial starts with LU64, 65, etc. then you can�t hack your Wii with this guide.....use this one, instead...


Download these 2 files & extract them to your SD card:

I have a feeling SM4.1 is what's messing with people, so when you're done you'll have SM4.0 SM4.1 doesn't really have anything new except some bug fixes with WSR that you can fix with an IOS update, anyway.

1. Format your SD card by inserting it in your PC, right click its drive icon, and click format in the pull-down. Select "quick format" file type does not matter, but I prefer FAT32

2. Download both files. Right click file titled "softmod 2 of 2� to your SD card, and select "extract files" from the pulldown. Navigate to your SD card, and click "ok" to extract all the files.

3. Open "softmod 1 of 2" You will notice there are 4 archives contained within this file. Extract the first one to your SD card.

4. Ok, your SD card is all set up. Pop it out of your PC, and into the front slot on your Wii.

Ok, now it's time to install bannerbomb and the homebrew channel.

5. If you Wii's not powered on, please do so...now navigate to the Wii options menu in the bottom left of your screen....click Data Management....click Channels....Click the Sd Card tab.

You should now be at the screen that shows all the Wii channels stored to your SD card.

6. A message should automatically pop up asking if you'd like to load the boot.elf File....click ok.

If your Wii freezes, then extract the next file from the first download...trial & error wins this battle One of the 4 files in the archive works for your Wii, and there's no other way of knowing.

Bannerbomb will install the homebrew channel & restart your Wii...check for the homebrew channel on your Wii's channel listing.

Part 2


Format your SD card again

Everything in part 2 runs through the homebrew channel.

Install the apps in the order they appear in HBC

Whenever it asks if you want to install from wad USB or network, scroll over to select network install....otherwise it will fail & you can try again

When you run cIOS downgrader, select 3.2x (x is your wii's default region)

For IOS60 updater, select yes to install everything...IOS60, IOS61, both patches & new shop channel.

Preloader takes a little while to start up when you install it...you may have to press the '1' button more than once

to load preloader, power off your wii, power it back on, and hold reset button while it boots up.

Be sure to set the preloader system menu hacks to allow region free disks, block disk updates, allow region free channels, etc.

in preloader settings, verify the system menu is set to load IOS36

Be sure to save your settings in preloader whenever you change something!!!

cIOSCORP is imperative to loading from the disk channel!!!

cIOS38 rev13 is imperative to playing the newest games (ghostbusters, etc.)

You should be done!!!! Verify & let me know how it goes!!!!

btw, any games that don't load through the disk channel will have to be loaded through neogamma.

to install NeoGamma backup loader channel:

WAD manager (extract to root folder of SD card) runs in HBC. Use it to install WAD manager channel & NeoGamma r6 channel below!!
